Tiny Tower

I'm not a gamer, my last serious foray into gaming was ‘Zelda Ocarina of Time’ on the N64 - during the important revision time for my GCSE's, I’ll let you all guess how those results ended up. - and now on the iPad / Apple TV - Ocean Horn 2 - Knights of the Lost Realm is doing a good job of reliving that misspent youth.

Other than lapping the Nurburgring on the PS2 playing Grand Tourismo 4, no other game has caught my attention other than Tiny Tower from NimbleBit, and I've been playing it continuously on my iPhone 6 since the day of purchase in 2014.

A side note on the ‘iPhone 6’ - kept alive to this day, its been replaced once by Apple it suffered the lifting screen issue - they initially replaced the screen but some how bent the phone chassis in the process, the replacement phone ‘died’ 4 years ago, written off by the Genius Bar as logic board failure.

After replacing loads of batteries and screens on iPhones over the years, whilst rooting for some parts in a draw the old iPhone caught my eye, by this time the battery had swelled and damaged the screen, but for £25 I got a battery and screen replacement kit of eBay - replaced them and the iPhone 6 was back alive, like it had never died.

I suspect it was battery issues, when the Genius Bar condemned it, and now its my dedicated Tiny Tower device.

The simple one handed, and quickness of Tiny Tower means you can basically play the game where ever you want, queuing or waiting in line at the post office, or those long transport connections waits, or even in the car whilst you’re waiting for mates.
Its a very simple pick up - play some - then put down game.

Since its launch the game has expanded some, with some spin off games that appear back in Tiny Tower, Pocket Planes being one, which is great on the iPad in landscape mode.

Swiping left from the Tower, you’ll open up the ‘Pocket Planes’ part of Tiny Tower whilst puts world logistics for items your shops produce in to the world domain, allowing you to sell bulk items.

The whole plot of the game hasn’t changed, build floors, build apartments, build shops, find tenants (Bitizens) and then employe them - sell stuff and keep building it keeps you hooked, and there is also the joyful interaction with Bitbook - Facebook for Bitizens - and my god do they like to moan!!!

Its fun and quirky and best of all syncs with Game Centre. You can also create a back up code linked to your email to recover the game when you change phones or play on multiple devices.

Tiny Tower also allows you to visit friends towers, and share each others status by a simple friends code. I’ve started a new 'Apple Geek’ tower and the friend code is FQ64M
